In September we teamed together with The Grange Winery to host The Slow Table: an unlikely marriage of English wine and Syrian food, raising £3,000 for Action Syria UK.
More than 50 Slow Cyclists and friends of The Grange joined together to sample a feast prepared by the wonderful Imad’s Syrian Kitchen.
Imad’s story is fascinating. A refugee who came to the UK on a small boat having fled his life and businesses in Damascus, he now runs a hugely successful London restaurant. Guests were captivated by his story, and wowed by his menu. We ate delicious meze and mains, from falafel and hummus to slow roasted lamb shoulder, topped off with baklava and pistachio ice cream.
And we couldn’t have asked for a more spectacular venue. We ate among towering tanks in The Grange’s wine room, and sampled several whites and rosés from their beautiful vineyard.
Most importantly, we raised £3,000 for Action Syria, a charity we began supporting in the aftermath of the February 2023 earthquake in Turkey and Syria. Our funds will help provide emergency primary healthcare, physical therapy and rehabilitation in many different areas.
Thank you to all those who attended and helped make it such a wonderful evening. Bring on the next Slow Table…
